Our Hearing Professionals
Ben began at Sound Advice in February of 2017. He received his B.A. from Michigan State University and Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Prior to joining Sound Advice, he worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs, the University of Michigan, and one of the larger hearing aid manufacturers.
Ben's interest in audiology stemmed from his grandpa who waited too long to be treated for hearing loss. Dale Wightman, who was typically the life of the party, gradually withdrew and didn't socially participate as much as he always had. When Ben realized he could help others seek treatment so that their hearing loss didn't negatively impact their quality of life, he knew he found the perfect career in audiology.
Ben resides in Ann Arbor with his wife, Laurel, and son, Julian. When he isn't working, he enjoys spending time with them and their two dogs, going to the gym, reading, watching movies, or rooting for his Spartans.

Lauren began working for Sound Advice in 2015 as the outreach coordinator. She received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Wayne State University in 2014 and is currently completing her final year of the Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program at Wayne State University. During her time in the Au.D. program, Lauren rotated through several audiologic settings including: Wayne State University's audiology clinic, Henry Ford Health System, Sound Advice Audiology, John D. Dingell V.A. Medical Center, and Children's Hospital of Michigan. She also served as volunteer coordinator of Wayne State's Student Academy of Audiology for two years and is very active in the Detroit community.
Along with her interest in hearing science, Lauren's career choice stemmed from her passion for playing the piano. She particularly enjoys improvisation and understands the importance of hearing what she is playing. She also has several family members with hearing loss and was inspired by the work of the audiologists who treated them.
When she is not working, Lauren enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Ramsen, and her large family. She also enjoys hiking, painting, traveling, and reading.
